TV Cameras Will Make Silva Listen
* Finally the Board of Supervisors is going to televise its meetings despite Supervisor Jim Silva’s objections.
He contends that televised meetings will draw spectators who only want to get themselves on television and that’s what happened when he was on the Huntington Beach City Council.
But people in Huntington Beach go to the City Council as they did when he was there to speak for their allowed three minutes.
Their appearance is not for the purpose of television, as he so ungraciously contends. Rather it allows them barely time to tell their elected representatives what their concerns are for the community’s welfare.
The real reason Silva doesn’t want the meetings televised is that he’ll have to be on the right page at all times of the meeting and he’ll have to be polite and listen for three minutes to honest concerns of the people who elected him.
