The Fisher Report

Once again The Times, in its infinite wisdom, chooses to walk on the side of slutdom, offering yet another monument to bad taste (“It Wasn’t in the Script,” July 25). The hoped-for jocularity-cum-honesty in the Carrie Fisher interview of Steve Martin with its “Oh, do we have gossip for you! Guess who Carrie Fisher slept with?” vulgarity is trite, banal and enough to distort a reader’s face with distaste.
Fisher says her next book, due out in the fall, is called “Famous Men I Have Slept With So I Could Interview Them Later.” Oh, how clever!
Who cares what this tiresome attention-seeker, rushing into print with her petty attempts to bask in a peripheral celebrity demimonde, sleeps with?

I thought Carrie Fisher’s interview with Steve Martin was very refreshing.
Steve once said to me, “In Hollywood, your dreams are golden and then your wife’s psychiatrist tells you that you must have been dreaming.”
P.S. I may or may not have ever met Steve Martin.

I was under the impression that there were editors at The Times.
