Islander Goalie Potvin Out a Month

New York Islander goaltender Felix Potvin, 1-6-1 with a 3.86 goals-against average since being acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs last month, will be sidelined at least four weeks after aggravating a groin injury in practice Wednesday. He originally suffered the injury in a game Feb. 12.
The Islanders acquired Potvin, 27, from Toronto on Jan. 9 for defenseman Bryan Berard. A two-time all-star, Potvin was 3-2 with a 3.81 goals-against average before the trade.

New York Ranger right wing Todd Harvey will be out at least a month because of a broken right thumb. He suffered the injury Feb. 12 when he was slashed by Carolina forward Nolan Pratt.

The Vancouver Canucks signed goaltender Kevin Weekes on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not released.
