An Orange County Superior Court judge postponed deciding how the five open Festival of Arts board of directors seats will be filled until Nov. 1.
The decision comes on the heels of Monday’s announcement that 65% of festival members voted to recall the majority of the board.
Lawyers supporting the recall asked Judge William F. McDonald for a membership election to fill the open positions; lawyers representing the ousted board members want the two remaining trustees--who were appointed after the recall drive began--to fill the seats by appointment.
The recall began after the board members started negotiating with San Clemente to move the 68-year-old Laguna Beach institution.
