Fifty firefighters responded to the blaze, which started about 4:15 p.m. on the second floor of a three-story building in the 6900 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells.
Several people were evacuated from the building before the blaze was extinguished about 4:35 p.m.
The woman who jumped was hospitalized in guarded condition, authorities said. She was not identified. Four people suffered smoke inhalation.
