Brink’s Driver Foils Attempt by 4 to Rob Armored Truck
- Share via
A Brink’s armored-truck driver exchanged gunfire with one of four would-be robbers early Friday outside a Chatsworth bank, thwarting a theft attempt, authorities said.
No one was injured and no money was taken in the incident outside the Bank of America at 20900 Devonshire St., police said.
Shortly before 2 a.m., four men accosted the truck crew in the bank’s parking lot. One robber fired a handgun at the driver, who returned fire from inside the truck, police said. Several rounds were exchanged.
The robbers fled in a car and were at large Friday, police said.
A Los Angeles Police Department detective said the attempted robbery did not appear to be related to other armored-truck robberies this year. On Feb. 5, Brink’s employee David Delgado was killed during a robbery of a Bank of America inside an Albertsons supermarket in Valley Glen.
