Agreement Would Give Teachers 5.5% Pay Hike

The Orange Unified School District announced a preliminary agreement Monday with the district’s teachers union to increase salaries by 5.5% for the current school year.
The agreement must be ratified by the union’s membership and by the board of trustees when it meets Oct. 11.Board member Kathy Moffat expects the increase to be approved.
“This is the recommendation from the negotiating teams,” she said. “At this point, the money is in the budget.”
Teacher unrest over salaries and benefits led to a recall campaign earlier this year that removed three trustees from the board.
