Jim Salsbury, a former All-American lineman from UCLA, died Friday after battling a serious blood infection. He was 69.
Salsbury, born in Culver City, helped the Bruin offense average 40 points a game in 1954, when UCLA won the national championship. A four-year letterman, he was selected as an All-American in 1954. He also played in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers from 1955-58.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Grace Walk Ministries in Paradise Valley, Ariz. A memorial service will be held April 14 at Scottsdale Bible Church Chapel in Scottsdale, Ariz.
