EchoStar, TBS Locked in Dispute Over Pricing

EchoStar Communications Corp. warned it could drop programming from its Dish Satellite network because of a contract impasse with the owner of CNN, TBS, Cartoon Network and Headline News.
The dispute comes just weeks after EchoStar and Viacom Inc. settled a similar conflict.
EchoStar, with 9 million subscribers, said its contract with Turner Broadcasting System expired Dec. 31. The companies agreed to an extension that has kept TBS programming on the Dish, but EchoStar refused to disclose when that extension expires. TBS is a unit of Time Warner Inc.
Englewood, Colo.-based EchoStar rose 70 cents to $33.78 on Nasdaq. New York-based Time Warner fell 2 cents to $17.37 on the NYSE.
