Kirov Ballet to open season

Russia’s Kirov Ballet will dance at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in October as the opening attraction of the Los Angeles Music Center’s third self-produced dance season.
Widely considered the world’s greatest ballet company, the St. Petersburg-based ensemble is said to be bringing “The Sleeping Beauty,” but in an older, shorter version of the complete ballet rather than the historic four-hour reconstruction it premiered six years ago.
Music Center dance officials confirmed the engagement but declined to provide any additional information pending an official announcement.
