From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A conservative public interest group filed a lawsuit Tuesday directly with the California Supreme Court seeking to invalidate the state’s $3-billion stem cell research funding institution.
The lawsuit alleges that provisions of Proposition 71, which was approved by voters in November, violate state law by exempting members of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine from some government conflict-of-interest laws.
The suit also says the ballot language failed to address a single subject, as required by state election law.
