An extra-special encounter

Thank you for the wonderful story on Eva Marie Saint (“Delighted to Act Her Age,” Feb. 17). A few years ago, I was a lowly extra on “Frasier.” Saint’s role was to portray a woman who was being fixed up with Frasier’s father. We stood next to each other waiting to begin a scene when she stuck out her hand and asked with a captivating smile, “What’s your name?” We got into a discussion waiting for the scene to begin, and I congratulated her on her Oscar-winning performance in “On the Waterfront.” She was absolutely down-to-earth, charming and disarming. A lady for all occasions.
