Late Night: Jimmy Kimmel discusses his ‘exciting’ move to 11:35

Jimmy Kimmel’s impending move to 11:35 p.m. was the talk of the television world
Tuesday, and no one, it seems, is more thrilled about it than Kimmel himself.

He opened his monologue Tuesday by addressing the time-slot change, which he described as “almost as exciting as Miley Cyrus’ new haircut.”

“It was a big day for us here today,” Kimmel admitted. “Starting in January – right around our 10-year anniversary – our show is moving from midnight to 11:35. I hope this doesn’t throw off my feeding schedule.”

Kimmel claimed that while the move “might not sound like a big deal – it’s only 25 minutes,” it was nevertheless “the most important 25 minutes of my life since the first 14 times I had sex.”

Best of all for Kimmel, it means people will no longer be able to use his ABC show’s late time slot as a reason not to watch. “You’re going to need a new excuse. Like ‘your show [stinks],’” he said.

Meanwhile, neither of Kimmel’s soon-to-be direct competitors, Jay Leno and David Letterman, addressed the subject in their monologues. Either they’re unfazed by the news or they’re reluctant to give their new rival any free publicity. We’re guessing it’s the latter.

But for the second night in a row, Leno slammed parent company Comcast over recent layoffs at “The Tonight Show.”

“Welcome to ‘The Tonight Show,’ or as we call it, ‘Survivor: Comcast,’” he joked, claiming the budget cuts have been so severe that “tonight’s monologue was written entirely by illegals.”
