Fresh cruise itineraries, experiences at Celebrity, Princess and Disney

Cruise lines like to change it up by offering new itineraries or a new way of experiencing an old favorite such as Alaska. If you’re in trip-planning mode, here are three fresh takes coming later in 2015 and beyond that you can check out now online or with your travel agent.

Celebrity Cruises

For the first time, Celebrity will have a home port in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The Celebrity Constellation will head to the Middle Eastern port starting in the 2016-17 season.

The Constellation will embark on nine-night Arabian Sea sailings with stops in Oman and Dubai starting in November 2016. The cruise line also offers 15-night sailings between Abu Dhabi and Singapore, stopping at four ports in India, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Princess Cruises

Be prepared to meet a lumberjack or a “Deadliest Catch” crew of crab fishers this summer on board Alaska cruises operated by Princess.

The on-board program called North to Alaska! is set to start in May and aims to give passengers a deeper cultural experience with more local dishes (expanded seafood options) and local stories about logging, fishing and even a wolf named Romeo.

In addition, a Klondike festival will bring sled-racing presentations and traditional dances to ships, capped with “midnight sun” parties on the top deck.

Princess offers 120 cruises to Alaska between May and September, leaving from San Francisco; Seattle; Vancouver, Canada; and Whittier, Alaska.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney plans to add two destinations -- Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Martinique -- to its Caribbean sailings starting in 2016.

The seven-night southern Caribbean cruises that include Martinique sail from San Juan, Puerto Rico. As always, all cruises in the Caribbean include a stop at Disney’s private Castaway Cay.
